You will learn to

• Operate mechanical devices or heavy machinery to perform waste sorting and also carry out waste recycling & materials recovery operations without/with minimal supervision and guide new sorters on the job.
• Handle mechanised tools and equipment and incidents.

Objectives

• Operate machinery to load waste into assigned area.
• Operate appropriate machinery to load waste from the transportation vehicle.
• Operate the appropriate machinery to sort waste at waste deposition site or waste treatment plant.
• Operate machinery to compact waste in accordance to organisation procedure.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment when operating the machinery.
• Operate machinery compact waste in accordance to organisation procedure.
• Maintain machinery in accordance to organisation guidelines.
• Report to appropriate person if work cannot be carried out.
