
About the Course
At the end of the course, you will be able to operate mechanical devices or heavy machinery to perform waste sorting and also carry out waste recycling & materials recovery operations without/with minimal supervision and guide new sorters on the job. You will also learn to handle mechanised tools and equipment and incidents.
What You'll Learn
Operate machinery to load waste into assigned area.
Operate appropriate machinery to load waste from the transportation vehicle.
Operate the appropriate machinery to sort waste at waste deposition site or waste treatment plant.
Operate machinery to compact waste in accordance to organisation procedure.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment when operating the machinery.
Operate machinery compact waste in accordance to organisation procedure.
Maintain machinery in accordance to organisation guidelines.
Report to appropriate person if work cannot be carried out.
Assessment / Certificate:
You will receive a Statement of Attainment from SSG upon attainment of a minimum of 75% training attendance and pass the associated assessments.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Speak, listen and read English at a proficiency level not lower than Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3, and manipulate numbers at a level not lower than Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 3.
Never attended school; pre-primary / kindergarten education; primary education without PSLE / PSPE certification or equivalent.
A minimum of two months of work experience in the waste management industry as Driver (Class A & B GWCs, Waste Collection), Senior Driver (Class A & B GWCs, Waste Collection), Captain (Class A & B GWCs, Waste Collection) or with the interest to be employed in the industry.
